Methodology
The City of Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities identified nine park parcels formally comprising the “James River Park System” for inclusion in the Conservation Easement. They are:
- AREA I - A HUGUENOT FLATWATER PARK (34.6 acres)
- AREA I - B. RIVERSIDE MEADOWS (1.4 acres)
- AREA I - C PONY PASTURE RAPIDS PARK (57.4 acres)
- AREA I - D THE WETLANDS WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA (55.5 acres)
- AREA I - E. GREAT SHIPLOCK PARK (1.0 acres)
- AREA I - F NORTH BANK PARK / TEXAS BEACH (14.1 acres)
- AREA I - G. MAIN AREA, JAMES RIVER PARK SYSTEM (114.7 acres)
- AREA I - H BELLE ISLE (60.4 acres)
- AREA II- P PUMPHOUSE / 3 MILE LOCK PARK (16.1 acres)

Each of these parcels was inventoried and evaluated by a team of researchers directed by John Zeugner, AICP, with the Richmond Recreation and Parks Foundation, between the summer of 2007 and the fall of 2008.
