Who are the Partners of RRPF?
The partners include community and civic associations, outdoor
enthusiasts, garden and history groups, and other citizen-based
groups whose primary interest is to maintain, restore, preserve,
or improve Richmond's public recreational resources.

How are the Partner Funds
Managed? RRPF, as an independent, non-governmental
group, ensures that funds raised for park improvements of
special programs are spent directly on the projects for which
they were raised. Because the Richmond Recreation and
Parks Foundation is a tax-exempt organization, donations are
tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed.
The Foundation derives its own
modest operating budget from several sources: 1) interest
on the funds held on behalf of the partner groups and 2) a
one-time 3% assessment on all partner funds deposited, at the
time of deposit. There are no other fees for participating
partners. The bulk of the Foundation's operating expenses
go to pay for a bookkeeping service and an annual independent
audit. Foundation officers and board members are all unpaid
volunteers.
What are the Benefits to the
Partners?
- Tax-deductible status for the
funds they deposit into Foundation accounts on behalf of their
projects;
- Skill development in
organization and leadership from the Foundation's network of
experienced community volunteers and concerned citizens;
- Improved communications and
working relationships with the City's Department of Parks,
Recreation, and Community Facilities;
- Guidance in fundraising skills
and resources
- A stronger voice in the
community through association with a well-established, high
respected park support group.
How does a group become a RRPF
Partner? Any community or nonprofit group is
encouraged to apply for partnership.
New groups are accepted as partners on the basis of the value of
their project proposal, the compatibility of their project with
the Foundation's mission, and other factors related to how the
proposed project funds will be raised and spent.
RRPF Project? If your group has a specific project in mind--one with limited scope, a definite starting and stopping date, and specific fundraising objectives, then we encourage you to apply under a project classification instead.
